Providence, R.I.—Coast Guard spoiled the 2022 home opener for Rhode Island College by handing the Anchormen a 2-0 shutout at Alumni Field on Thursday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Both teams were evenly matched in the first half, with Coast Guard holding a slight, 4-1, shot advantage heading into the break.

rd minute when Bears' senior midfielder
John Flood (Midlothian, Va.) broke the seal off of a penalty kick. He was taken down while making a run in the box and opened the game's scoring with a shot to the lower right side.

John DiTommaso (Farmington, Conn.) to pot the important insurance marker.

Jake Reed (Cumberland, R.I.) made two saves and was tabbed with the loss (0-1) while allowing two goals and making two saves.
• Bears senior goalkeeper
John Vaaler (Arnold, Md.) did not have to make a save in the win (1-0).
