Plymouth, N.H.--Sophomore pitcher
Andrew Sears (West Warwick, R.I.) tossed a complete game shutout in game one of a doubleheader as the Rhode Island College baseball team defeated Plymouth State (6-0, 12-2) in Little East action on Friday afternoon.
With the wins, RIC established a new single-season record for victories.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME ONE
• RIC got on the board early with a three-run home run in the top of the first inning courtesy of senior right fielder
Joey Coro (North Providence, R.I.).

• With the Anchormen up, 4-0, in the fifth, freshman catcher
Lucas Pierce (Chepachet, R.I.) singled up the middle, which produced two runs and advanced the visitors' lead to six runs.

• Sears was dominant, going the full nine inning and only allowing three hits, while striking out nine batters, to notch his eighth win of the season (8-1).

• PSU junior pitcher
Bobby Cliche (Stratham, N.H.) pitched eight innings in a losing effort (2-5) and struck out nine.

• Pierce went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI.

• PSU sophomore shortstop
Jackson Curtis (Jefferson, R.I.) was the lone bright spot in the Panthers lineup, getting two of their three hits.

GAME TWO
• RIC sophomore right fielder
Justin Wardwell (Westport, Mass.) launched a two-run homer in the top of the second inning on his first collegiate home run.

• PSU got a run back in the bottom of the second inning with a Curtis home run.

• RIC then answered in the top of the third inning on a home run from sophomore second baseman
Cal Parrillo (Greenville, R.I.) to give the Anchormen a 4-1 advantage.

Izaiah Rivera (Pawtucket, R.I.) launched RIC's third two-run homer of the day in the fourth. Two batters later, freshman first baseman
Daniel Trzepacz (Mount Vernon, N.H.) peppered the trees behind the right field fence for the fourth RIC homer, which gave the Anchormen a 7-2 lead.

• With RIC leading, 9-2, in the seventh, Parrillo brought in a pair with a single as part of a three-run frame to end the game early via the 10-run rule.

Terry Murray (Norfolk, Mass.) picked up win number five of the season (5-2) with a complete game effort.

Trey Parker (Lebanon, N.H.) suffered the loss (4-3).
