Castleton, Vt.—Senior designated player Katrina Kazen (Warwick, R.I.) went 4-for-6 as Rhode Island College lost a doubleheader (4-1; 11-1) vs. Castleton in Little East softball action played at Spartan Field on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME ONE
• RIC jumped out to a 1-0 advantage in the first on a sophomore first baseman Katelyn Ashe (Colchester, Conn.) RBI double.
 
• The Spartans scored once in both the second and third, while plating two in the fourth frame, to pick up the win. Senior catcher Jamie Boyle (Pownal, Vt.) had an RBI double and single for the hosts.
 
• RIC freshman pitcher Abby Kidd (Granby, Conn.) took the loss (5-7). Sophomore center fielder Avery Katz (Brookfield, Conn.) went 2-for-3 with a run scored.
 
• Castleton junior starter Olivia Joy (Greenfield, Mass.) earned the win (6-5).
 
GAME TWO
• The Spartans took a 3-0 lead in the first and used a seven-run fourth inning to help end the game early via the 10-run rule.
 
• RIC scored its lone run in the fourth on a freshman shortstop Amanda Conti (Lincoln, R.I.) RBI fielder's choice.
 
• Castleton sophomore second baseman Allison Almond (Proctor, Vt.) went 3-for-3 with a run scored and two RBI in the win.
 
• RIC freshman pitcher Morgan Collupy (Rehoboth, Mass.) took the loss (2-2). Kazen went 3-for-3 in the nightcap.
 
• CU senior starter Kyle Wright (Newport, Vt.) picked up the win (7-1).
