Cal Parrillo (Greenville, R.I.) paced the Anchormen offensively with four hits as the Rhode Island College baseball team split a doubleheader at Southern Maine (6-0, 2-5) in Little East action played on Ed Flaherty Field on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME ONE
• RIC led, 2-0, after four innings, with Parrillo picking up an RBI in the third inning and freshman catcher
Lucas Pierce (Chepachet, R.I.) doubling home a run in the fourth.

• RIC would add a few insurance runs as sophomore pitcher
Andrew Sears (West Warwick, R.I.) was dominant. He struck out a career-high 12 batters over eight innings and allowed just five Huskies to reach base as he picked up his fourth (4-1) win on the season.

Joshua Joy (Smithfield, Maine) was saddled with the loss (1-3).

GAME TWO
• The script flipped on the Anchormen as it was the Huskies, who scored early and often, collected three runs in the fourth thanks to a hit, a hit batsman and a fielder's choice.

• In the fifth inning, junior left fielder
Jonathan Wilson (East Granby, Conn.) singled home a run and then later scored after a double by junior designated hitter
Arlo Pike (Buxton, Maine). USM led, 5-0, after the fifth inning.

• In the top of the ninth, senior third baseman
Jarrad Grossguth (Coventry, R.I.) brought in the Anchormen's only two runs with a blast over the left field fence.
• USM sophomore pitcher
Bryce Afthim (Windham, Maine) was excellent, going the complete nine innings and striking out 10 batters for his third win of the year (3-1).
