Jeniyah Jones (Randolph, Mass.) racked up 18 points, seven boards and four steals to lead Rhode Island College past Bates, 61-52, at Russell Sage on Friday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• RIC led by two, 13-11, after the first quarter, but the Polar Bears outscored the Anchorwomen, 12-8, in the second quarter to take a 23-21 lead into halftime.
• RIC flipped the script in the third quarter to build a two-point, 37-35, advantage heading into the final 10 minutes.
• Two free throws by Bates sophomore guard
Alexandra Long (Newtown, Pa.) gave Bates a one-point, 48-47, lead with 3:27 remaining. A Jones jumper on the ensuing possession put RIC back on top and ignited an 8-0 run to help the Anchorwomen pull away.
• Bates would get within five, 55-50, with 50 seconds remaining, but RIC got a pair of free throws from senior forward
Izabelle Booth (Newport, R.I.) and four by senior guard
Antonia Corsinetti (Johnston, R.I.) to seal the victory.
• Booth finished with 14 points, 10 boards and three blocks. Corsinetti racked up 12 points , while sophomore forward
Angelina Nardolillo (Hinsdale, N.H.) pulled down a game-high 12 boards.

(South Portland, Maine) finished with a game-high 19 points, while Long registered a 16-point effort.
