Angelina Nardolillo (Hinsdale, N.H.) registered a double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds as the Rhode Island College women's basketball team defeated Castleton, 67-56, in the Little East opener for the both clubs on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• RIC opened the game with another dominant first quarter, holding the Spartans to just six points. It marks the fourth game in a row in which the Anchorwomen have held their opponents to single digits in the opening frame.

• The visitors scored the first nine points of the second quarter to take a commanding, 27-6, lead with 6:55 remaining in the first half. Nardolillo scored five of her points during that stretch, which included knocking down a three-pointer.

• RIC led into the half, 36-17.

• The Anchorwomen maintained a lead around 20 points for most of the third quarter and headed into the final stanza up by 23, 60-37.

• Castleton outscored RIC, 17-6, through the first eight minutes of the fourth quarter to knock the Anchorwomen's lead down to just 12 points, 66-54.

• The Spartans' comeback attempt fell short as the RIC defense clamped up and allowed just two more points over the final two minutes.
