Men's Soccer Ends LEC Championship Run in 2-0 Loss vs. Western Connecticut

Danbury, Conn.—No. 5-seeded Rhode Island College fell at No. 1-seeded Western Connecticut, 2-0, in the semifinal round of the 2022 Little East Men's Soccer Championship to see its season come to an end on Thursday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The nationally-ranked Wolves got on the board first when freshman forward Erik Lorent (Shelton, Conn.) hammered home his eighth goal of the season in the 20th minute. Junior midfielder Kent Eannarino (Brookfield, Conn.) had the assist on the play.
 
• WCSU senior midfielder Eduardo Vargas (Norwalk, Conn.) upped the Wolves' lead to two when he scored his first goal of the season in the 65th minute.
 
• Junior goalkeeper Jake Reed (Cumberland, R.I.) stopped three shots in the loss (2-6-1).
 
• Wolves freshman goalkeeper Zachary Benson (Milford, Conn.) keeps his flawless season alive, earning his 15th win (15-0) and notching his fourth clean sheet with a six-save performance.
 
• RIC registered more shots on goal (6-5) and corner kicks (6-3) in the loss.
