Keyshaun Jacobs Scores His 1,000th Career Point in, 93-82, Loss at Plymouth State

Plymouth, N.H.--Senior guard Keyshaun Jacobs (Lynn, Mass.) scored his 1,000th career point as the Rhode Island College men's basketball team fell at Plymouth State, 93-82, in Little East action on Monday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• With RIC down, 82-76, with three minutes remaining in the game, Jacobs stepped to the line and sank both of his free throws, the first of which was his 1,000th career point.
 
• In the second half, with Plymouth State leading, 79-63, with 4:36 remaining, The Anchormen exploded for a 15-3 scoring run to cut the deficit down to just two points, 82-80. Plymouth State connected on its free throws, outscoring the visitors, 11-3, down the stretch to preserve the win.
 
• Jacobs finished with 23 points to give him 1,001 combined points between his two-year stint at Morehouse and RIC.
 
• Junior guard Shion Darby (Peekskill, N.Y.) finished with a team-high 25 points and seven assists.
 
• PSU sophomore guard Kyler Bosse (Manchester, N.H.) exploded for 30 points and nine rebounds in the host's victory.
 
BY THE NUMBERS
• RIC shot 41 percent (26-for-64) from the field, 33 percent (7-for-21) from downtown and 85 percent (23-for-27) from the free throw line.
 
• The Panthers shot 58 percent (37-for-64) from the field, 36 percent (8-for-22) from three-point range and 79 percent (11-for-14) from the charity stripe.
 
WHAT'S NEXT
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will continue Little East play at Western Connecticut on Wednesday, Feb. 2 (7:30 p.m.).
