Shion Darby (Peekskill, N.Y.) scored a game-high 24 points as the Rhode Island College tamed the Huskies of Southern Maine, 83-73, in Little East men's basketball action played at the Murray Center on Wednesday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• RIC started the game up big thanks to a 12-0 scoring run mid-way through the first half to give the hosts a 26-12 lead. The Anchormen would hold the lead and head into halftime up by 13, 42-29.

• Southern Maine never led past early in the first half, but stormed back to make it a five-point game, 72-67, thanks to a layup from freshman guard
Juneau Anicette (Orlando, Fla.) with 1:20 left in regulation.

• RIC went 8-for-8 from the free throw line in the final minute to ice the game, with sophomore guard
Damian Tucker (Boynton Beach, Fla.) going 6-for-6 over that stretch.

• Darby also supplied the Anchormen with three rebounds and three steals.

Keyshaun Jacobs (Lynn, Mass.) scored 20 points on the evening to go along with five assists.

• Sophomore guard
Jordan Riley (Windsor, Conn.) turned in another all-around performance, with 16 points, nine boards, four dimes and three steals.

• USM junior forward
Marcus Christopher (Skowhegan, Maine) tied Darby for the game-high in points with 24. He also pulled down a game-best 12 rebounds.

BY THE NUMBERS
• RIC shot 44 percent (28-for-63) from the field, 42 percent (8-for-19) from downtown and 79 percent (19-for-24) from the free throw line.

• The Huskies shot 40 percent (27-for-68) from the field, 26 percent (8-for-31) from long range and 79 percent (11-for-14) from the charity stripe.

• Jacobs sits at 961 points for his career. He is just 39 away from reaching 1,000 career points.
