Providence, R.I.—Rhode Island College dropped a doubleheader (17-0; 10-2) to nationally-ranked Eastern Connecticut in Little East softball action played at the Dayna A. Bazar Softball Complex on Friday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game One:
• The Warriors, who are ranked No. 7 in the nation, took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first on junior pitcher
Carley Stoker's (Sandy Creek, N.Y.) sacrifice fly.
• The visitors pushed across five runs in the second, highlighted by a junior third baseman
Carolyn Biel (Wallingford, Conn.) RBI double.
• Biel led off the third with a solo homer (2) and graduate center fielder
Cassie Woods (Mystic, Conn.) later scored on a RIC throwing error.
• Eastern put the game out of reach with seven runs in the fourth, paced by senior right fielder
Alexis Tyrrell's (Torrington, Conn.) three-run homer (1), and two more in the fifth.
• Stoker allowed just four hits and struck out eight to earn her eighth (8-0) win of the season. RIC sophomore starter
Faith Turinese (Plainville, Mass.) took the loss (0-3).
Game Two:
• Biel doubled in a run in the second inning to stake ECSU to an early, 1-0, lead.
• RIC tied the game in the bottom of the second as freshman center fielder
Avery Katz (Brookfield, Conn.) notched an RBI single.
• The Warriors scored three runs on two hits and three RIC errors in the third to build a 4-1 advantage. Junior shortstop
Julia SanGiovanni (East Haven, Conn.) had sacrifice fly in the frame.
• RIC freshman designated player
Katelyn Ashe (Colchester, Conn.) tripled in a run in the home half of the third.
• The visitors tacked on two to their lead in the fourth on sophomore second baseman
Alyssa Vilchez's (Brampton, Ontario) and Tyrell's RBI singles.
• Biel had an RBI double in the fifth and junior pitcher
Brooke Matyasovsky (Orange, Conn.) contributed a two-run shot (7) as part of a three-run sixth to end the game early.
• Matyasovsky earned the win (8-0) for the Warriors. RIC freshman starter
Tatiana Burcy (Boston, Mass.) took the loss (0-4).
BY THE NUMBERS
• Katz and Ashe each went 2-for-3 on the day with an RBI.
• SanGiovanni went 6-for-6 with two runs scored, two doubles and two RBI. Woods went for 6-for-7 with six runs scored, a double and two RBI. Biel went 5-for-6 with four runs scored, four doubles, a homer and four RBI.
