Jonathan Oliveira (Providence, R.I.) scored twice and registered one assist as the Rhode Island College men's soccer team defeated Castleton, 5-0, in Little East action played at Alumni Field on Sunday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• RIC scored their first goal in the 30
th minute off of an Oliveira free kick that found the head of freshman midfielder
Anthony Recinos (Providence, R.I.), who then directed the ball into the back of the net for his first career tally.

• RIC senior goalkeeper
Charlie Tashjian (West Warwick, R.I.) made a huge save on a Spartan penalty kick opportunity in the 33
rd minute to keep the visitors off the scoreboard.

• RIC found the back of the net again in the 38
th minute when freshman defender
Ryan Moniz (Riverside, R.I.) sent a crossing pass from the right side to the left and found the foot of Oliveira who tipped it into the net to give the Anchormen a 2-0 lead.

• An unfortunate bounce for the Spartans gave the Anchormen their third goal of the day as senior midfielder
Sa-Leem Kamarah (North Providence, R.I.) launched a shot that hit the cross bar and then caromed off a Castleton defender and into the goal.

• Oliveira scored his second goal of the day in the 81
st minute that was set up by freshman midfielder
Larry Garcia (Central Falls, R.I.) to give RIC a 4-0 cushion.

• Two minutes later, the Anchormen added to their lead when sophomore forward
Joseph Scolaro (Bristol, R.I.) received a pass from sophomore midfielder
Derick Kehn (Melrose, N.Y.) off of a free kick. He turned and fired the shot by the Spartans goalkeeper to cap the day's offense.

• Tashjian made one save on the day and earned his first win of the season (1-0). Tashjian played the first half before giving way to freshman netminder
Andrew Silva (Cumberland, R.I.) played the second half and made four saves.

• CU senior starting goalkeeper
Alex Fernald (Phippsburg, ME.) took the loss (0-3), making three saves in 30:33. Sophomore goalkeeper
Andres Soto-Burgos (Bronx, N.Y.) made four saves in 42 minutes, while freshman
Jonathan Maul (Westwood, N.J.) made one save in 17:28.
