Terry Murray Hurls Complete Game in Win vs. UMass Boston

Boston, Mass.--Freshman pitcher Terry Murray (Norfolk, Mass.) had a strong outing, throwing a complete game, allowing two runs on nine hits to go along with three strikeouts, as the Rhode Island College baseball team defeated UMass Boston, 10-2, in Little East action played at Monan Park on Tuesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• UMB hopped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the third on a freshman second basemen Jason Sullivan (Wrentham, Mass.) RBI single to right center and a sacrifice fly by sophomore shortstop Gianni Zarrilli (South Glastonbury, Conn.) that scored Sullivan.
 
• RIC responded in the top of the fourth frame with six runs of its own that started with a two-run single by freshman shortstop Izaiah Rivera (Pawtucket, R.I.) that knotted the score at two apiece.
 
• After three runs were walked in and one run scored due to a hit batter, senior second basemen Nate Vigeant (Coventry, R.I.) hit a gap shot to right center field that drove in a pair of runs to give the Anchormen an 8-2 lead.
 
• The RIC offense kept going in the fifth frame as freshman designated hitter Jarrad Grossguth (Coventry, R.I.) hit an RBI triple to center field that drove in another run and extended the visitor's lead to seven, 9-2.
 
• RIC added their 10th run of the day when freshman centerfielder Cam Santerre (Bristol, R.I.) crossed the plate on a wild pitch.
 
BY THE NUMBERS
• Vigeant went 1-for-3 with a double, two RBI, two walks and one run scored. Santerre went 1-for-3 with two walks and a pair of runs scored. Rivera went 2-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored.
 
• UMB junior third basemen Thomas Cue (Shrewsbury, Mass.) went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and one run scored.
 
• UMB sophomore pitcher Alex Amalfi (Ashland, Mass.) took the loss (0-1).
 
WHAT'S NEXT
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will continue Little East action with a doubleheader at home vs. Castleton on Friday, April 23 (noon).
