Providence, R.I.--Junior Alex Bourque (North Smithfield, R.I.) and sophomore Michael Crawley (Manville, R.I.) won at No. 1 doubles and won their respective singles matches as Rhode Island College opened the 2021 season with a 9-0 shutout victory over Castleton in Little East men's tennis action played at the RIC Tennis Center on Saturday afternoon.

• RIC senior Ethan Hoy (West Warwick, R.I.) and freshman Josh Brien (Johnston, R.I.) defeated CU freshman Alijah Seymour (Peru, Vt.) and Rafael Robles, 8-0 at No. 3 doubles to start the match.
 
• RIC sophomore Max Blais (Smithfield, R.I.) and senior Michael Shea (Greenville, R.I.) combined to defeat CU freshmen Jason Lipscomb (Bristol, Conn.) and Connor Davis, 8-0, at No. 2 doubles.
 
• Bourque and Crawley defeated Levi Williams and sophomore Rowan Kidder (Jacksonville, Vt.), 8-0, at No. 1 doubles to put the hosts up, 3-0, heading into singles action.
 
• Brien defeated Robles (6-1, 6-0) at No. 6 singles.
 
• Shea defeated Seymour (6-1, 6-0) at No. 5 singles to clinch the match.
 
• Bourque defeated Williams (6-2, 6-0) at No. 1 singles.
 
• Crawley defeated Davis (6-0, 6-0) at No. 3 singles.
 
• Blais defeated Lipscomb (6-2, 6-0) at No. 2 singles.
