St. Onge and Hodovanec Leads Anchorwomen in, 3-0, Loss at Southern Maine

Gorham, Maine—Freshman setter Sydney Green (West Warwick, R.I.) and sophomore setter Aubrey St. Onge (Tilton, N.H.) each recorded 11 assists as Rhode Island College lost, 3-0, at Southern Maine in Little East women's volleyball action on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Southern Maine took round one with a 25-19 first-set victory. The Huskies took the second frame by five, 25-20.  Southern Maine then dominated the visitors in the final set, 25-10.
 
• Junior outside hitter Amelia Murphy (North Attleboro, Mass.) collected a match-high 13 kills. She also totaled eight digs, one assist, one block and one service ace. 
 
• RIC had two players reach double digits in digs as freshman libero Nicole Normandin (Blackstone, Mass.) and classmate outside hitter Rhiannon Hodovanec (Feeding Hills, Mass.) each recorded 11.
 
• Sophomore outside hitter Brianna Delloiacono (Moodus, Conn.) led the way for the hosts with nine kills to go along with seven digs.
 
• Freshman outside hitter Alizia Lagando (Huron, Ohio) had a strong all-around performance, picking up eight kills, four digs and a match-leading four service aces.
 
• USM senior setter Sophie Lindsay (Sierra Madre, Calif.) led the match with 20 assists.
 
BY THE NUMBERS
• Southern Maine outhit Rhode Island College .222 (32-12-90) to .071 (27-21-84).
 
• The hosts led in kills (32-27), aces (9-3) and blocks (5-3). RIC led in digs (40-34) and assists (27-26).
 
WHAT'S NEXT
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will play the University of New England in their second match of the afternoon (2 p.m.).
