HOW IT HAPPENED
• Southern Maine took round one with a 25-19 first-set victory. The Huskies took the second frame by five, 25-20. Southern Maine then dominated the visitors in the final set, 25-10.
• Junior outside hitter
Amelia Murphy (North Attleboro, Mass.) collected a match-high 13 kills. She also totaled eight digs, one assist, one block and one service ace.
• RIC had two players reach double digits in digs as freshman libero

Alizia Lagando (Huron, Ohio) had a strong all-around performance, picking up eight kills, four digs and a match-leading four service aces.
• USM senior setter
Sophie Lindsay (Sierra Madre, Calif.) led the match with 20 assists.
