Box Score Providence, R.I.—Junior guard Sophia Guerrier (Waltham, MA) registered 16 points as Rhode Island College defeated Southern Maine, 71-55, in Little East women's basketball action played at The Murray Center on Wednesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Anchorwomen opened the game on an 8-2 run, capped by a junior guard Brooke Young (West Warwick, RI) three-pointer at 6:41 of the first quarter. A free throw by freshman guard Antonia Corsinetti (Johnston, RI) capped the first frame as the hosts went into the break up by 12, 21-9.
• The Anchorwomen increased their first-half lead to 19 points, 39-20, on a senior guard Jordyn Gauvin (Fall River, MA) long ball with just under two minutes to play in the second quarter. A USM sophomore center Audrey Pohl (Holland, MI) jumper ended the first half with the Huskies trailing by 17, 41-24.
• RIC dominated the glass in the first half, 41-24.
• USM pulled within 13, 44-41, on a junior guard Morgan Eliasen (Lewiston, ME) three-pointer at 6:07 of the third quarter, but the Anchorwomen did not let the Huskies back into the game and took a 61-37 lead into the final frame.
• The visitors outscored the hosts, 18-10, in the fourth quarter, but the Anchorwomen cruised to the win.
• Sophomore center Willcia McBorrough (Providence, RI) posted a double-double with 14 points and a game-high 13 rebounds for the hosts. Senior forward Fataya Larry (Brooklyn, NY) chipped in with six points, eight boards and three assists. Guerrier also totaled four boards and four steals.
• USM sophomore center Victoria Harris (Altus, OK) finished the game with 17 points and six rebounds. Junior guard Abi Ramirez (Portland, ME) and senior guard Jackie Luckhardt (Londonderry, NH) each had 10 points in the loss.
BY THE NUMBERS
• RIC shot 41 percent (26-for-63) from the field, 32 percent (8-for-25) from three-point land and 65 percent (11-for-17) from the free throw line.
• USM shot 32 percent (17-for-54) from the field, 33 percent (3-for-9) from downtown and 67 percent (18-for-27) from the charity stripe.
• The win snapped a two-game losing streak for the Anchorwomen. RIC held a 50-31 advantage on the glass.
