Box Score Willimantic, Conn.-- Sophomore center Willcia McBorrough (Providence, RI) led the way for the Anchorwomen with 14 points, 13 rebounds and two blocks as the Rhode Island College women's basketball team defeated Eastern Connecticut, 58-46, in Little East action played at Geissler Gymnasium on Wednesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Anchorwomen jumped out to a quick, 7-0, lead to begin the game with the help of a trey and layup from junior guard Sophia Guerrier (Waltham, MA) in the opening three minutes of action.
• Another layup from Guerrier gave the Anchorwomen a 14-10 advantage at the end of the first quarter.
• Strong defensive play from the visitors in the second frame allowed RIC to go on a 20-6 run over the course of the period and take a 34-16 lead into the halftime intermission.
• Guerrier led all scorers with 12 points in the first half. McBorrough recorded eight points and seven boards.
• The third quarter was slow for the Anchorwomen, as they were outscored by the Warriors, 14-9. RIC was able to carry a 13-point, 43-30, lead into the final frame.
• The Anchorwomen were able to build a 20-point, 54-34, lead with 4:30 remaining in the fourth quarter following a layup by freshman guard Maci Dorantes (Bristol, CT).
• The Anchorwomen closed out the Warriors by 12 as they stay unbeaten in the Little East Conference and hand Eastern its first league setback of the year.
• Guerrier finished with 18 points, seven rebounds, three steals and a pair of assists. Senior forward Fataya Larry (Brooklyn, NY) added eight points, nine boards and two assists.
• Senior forward Jordyn Gauvin (Fall River, MA) contributed five points, seven rebounds, three assists and two blocks.
• ESCU senior forward Mya Villard (Cromwell, CT) led the Warriors with 12 points and six rebounds.
BY THE NUMBERS
• RIC shot 44 percent (26-for-59) from the field, 19 percent (4-for-21) from three-point range and 33 percent (2-for-6) from the foul line.
• ECSU shot 31 percent (18-for-58) from the field, 18 percent (2-for-11) from three-point territory and 89 percent (8-for-9) from the foul line.
• RIC outscored ESCU in the paint 42-12, and outrebounded the Warriors, 42-31.
