Box Score Providence, R.I.--Junior guard Keyshaun Jacobs (Lynn, MA) poured in 31 points to go with three rebounds and three assists as the Rhode Island College men's basketball team defeated UMass Dartmouth, 92-69, in Little East Conference action at The Murray Center on Wednesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Anchormen had a quick start to the first half with a 24-10 run in the opening eight minutes of the game. Freshman guard Shion Darby (Peekskill, NY) scored 14 points during the run.
• The Anchormen held the lead the entire first half. The Corsairs came within eight points, 30-22, but were not able to tighten the gap before the end of the opening stanza.
• Going into the halftime intermission, RIC held a 19-point advantage, 47-28. The Anchormen outscored the Corsairs, 24-10, in the paint during the first half.
• The second half began sluggish for the hosts, as their lead was cut down to 10, 55-45, before a three-ball from Jacobs kick-started the offense.
• The Anchormen tightened up on the defensive side of the ball, which helped the offense take off. Jacobs was able to knock down five three-point field goals in the final 20 minutes to lead the Anchormen to their first LEC win of the year.
• Darby finished with 31 points to go along with seven rebounds, five assists and two blocks. Senior forward Ben Vezele (Providence, RI) recorded another double-double for the Anchormen with 13 points and 16 rebounds. Vezele added four assists and a blocked shot.
• Sophomore guard Marcus Azor (Brockton, MA) and classmate forward Sean Leahy (Hanson, MA) led the Corsairs with 12 points each.
BY THE NUMBERS
• RIC shot 46 percent (31-for-68) from the field, 37 percent (11-for-30) from beyond the three-point arc and 79 percent (19-for-24) from the free throw line.
• UMD shot 40 percent (29-for-73) from the field, 31 percent (5-for-16) from three-point range and 50 percent (6-for-12) from the foul line.
• UMD held a slight advantage on the glass, 43-42.
• RIC rejected seven shots and recorded 10 steals on the night.
