Dudley, Mass.—Senior outside hitter
Sarina Marines (Cranston, R.I.) averaged 18.0 kills and 14.0 digs in a pair of matches as Rhode Island College fell vs. Westfield State, 3-2, and defeated Nichols, 3-0, at a tri-meet hosted by the Bison on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• After dropping the first set in extra time, 27-25, RIC rebounded with a decisive, 25-12, victory in the second set vs. Westfield State.
• The Owls edged the Anchorwomen in the third set, 25-23, but RIC rallied to win the fourth stanza, 25-20. WSU won the match with a 15-13 decision in the fifth set.
• Marines racked up 19 kills and 17 digs in the loss, while classmate middle hitter
Andrayah Williams (North Providence, R.I.) recorded 12 winners.
• Senior setters
Yuleisy Alvelo (San Juan, Puerto Rico) and
Grace Luchka (North Scituate, R.I.) combined for 34 assists with 18 and 16, respectively. Luchka notched a double-double with 11 digs. Senior outside hitter
Marina Colonis (Waterford, Conn.) pitched in with eight kills and 19 digs.
• RIC kept Nichols winless with a 3-0 (25-17, 26-24, 25-17) shutout win to close out the afternoon.
• Marines was once again a force on both ends of the floor, totaling 17 kills and 11 digs.
• Alvelo finished with 17 assists and nine digs, while Colonis contributed 16 digs.
BY THE NUMBERS
• Alvelo averaged 17.5 assists and 7.0 digs on the day. Luchka averaged 14 assists and 7.5 digs. Colonis averaged 17.5 digs.
