Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
• A 6-0 start from the hosts in the early goings, which extended the lead to, 16-9, with back-to-back kills by Williams and classmate outside hitter
Sarina Marines (Cranston, R.I.), helped RIC go onto win the opening frame, 25-17.
Â
• The Anchorwomen trailed, 11-8, in the second stanza, but attack errors down the stretch by the Wolves proved costly as the hosts sailed to a, 25-21, set-two win.
Â
• A service ace from senior setter
Grace Luchka (North Scituate, R.I.) made it 19-15 in favor of RIC, but the visitors built a comeback and forced a fourth frame with a 25-23 decision.
Â
• The Anchorwomen had match point twice late in the fourth, but WestConn quickly took two points back to earn a pair of set points opportunities themselves until the hosts rattled off three straight kills to take the match, 29-27.
Â
• Marines posted a double-double with 13 kills and 11 digs, while senior outside hitter
Marina Colonis (Waterford, Conn.) poured in 12 kills and registered 13 digs.
Â
• The Anchorwomen keep their LEC Playoff hopes alive with the win and look to clinch a sport in the tournament with a win next weekend at Vermont State Castleton.
