Castleton, Vt.--Freshman forward
Kody Poplaski (Bradford, R.I.) scored two goals, including the game-winner, as Rhode Island College won, 4-1, vs. VTSU Castleton in Little East action played at Dave Wolk Stadium on Saturday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Anchormen and the Spartans were each able to conjure four shots on net in the first half, but both goalkeepers kept a clean sheet after 45 minutes.

• RIC scored the go-ahead goal, which came from freshman midfielder
Moise Augustin (Providence, R.I.), four minutes into the second half.

• The hosts were able to equalize not long after, as an Anchormen foul in the 54
th minute allowed the Spartans to score on a free kick.

• Poplaski scored the brace for the Anchormen during the 69th minute on a solo effort.

• The freshmen for RIC came to play today as Poplaski netted his second of the game in the 77th minute on an assist from sophomore midfielder
Nathan Capelo (Rumford, R.I.), which put the visitors up by two, 3-1.

• Finally, freshman forward
Luizandro Sanches (Pawtucket, R.I.) closed out the scoring with his team-leading fifth goal of the season in the last minute as RIC picked up its first conference win of the season.
• Freshman goalkeeper
Shane Merklein (Mullica Hill, N.J.) made six saves as he grabbed the win (2-3-3).
