RIC and Corsairs Battle to Scoreless Draw

Dartmouth, Mass.--Junior goalkeeper Elhadji Ndoye (Cranston, R.I.) collected eight saves and posted the clean sheet as Rhode Island College tied, 0-0, against UMass Dartmouth in Little East action at Cressy Field on Wednesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Both sides exchanged shots towards the net during the first half, but neither team was able to assert dominance with a goal as a quiet opening 45 minutes came to an end.
 
• Within the first 10 minutes of the second half, Ndoye made two great saves for the visitors to keep the Anchormen level with the Corsairs heading into crunch time.
 
• RIC's best scoring chance of the evening came in the 70th minute as the ball fell to senior forward Izaiah Karweh (Providence, R.I.), but his attempt from 15 yards out sailed over the crossbar.
 
• The Corsairs nearly took the advantage in the 76th minute as a free kick from 10-15 yards beyond the 18-yard box ricocheted off the crossbar.
 
• A final shot within the last five minutes from the hosts was deflected by a RIC defender, which nearly caught Ndoye off-guard, but he was able to recover and keep the score knotted at zero.
 
• Ndoye made a season-high eight saves and earned the decision (1-4-3).
 
WHAT'S NEXT
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will continue Little East play at VTSU Castleton on Saturday, Oct. 25 (5 p.m.).
