Amelia Murphy (North Attleboro, Mass.) led the way with eight kills, five digs and three blocks as the Rhode Island College volleyball team fell vs. UMass Dartmouth, 3-0 (25-16, 25-18, 25-16), in Little East action played at The Murray Center on Thursday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
•  The Corsairs came out in the first set asserting their dominance as they climbed out to an 18-5 lead before the capturing the first stanza by nine, 25-16.

• The second set saw more action out of both teams as the score was nearly even the length of the set.

• The Anchorwomen tied the score on two occasions during the second set, but were unable to take the lead before eventually falling by seven, 25-18.

• As the third set began, the Anchorwomen saw their first lead of the day in the early stages, 2-1, on a kill by senior right side hitter
Eden Anthony (Cranston, R.I.), which was set up by junior setter
Wynter Conlon (East Walpole, Mass.).

• RIC battled throughout the third set but the Corsairs proved to be too much as the Anchorwomen fell by nine, 25-16, as UMD captured the match 3-0.

• UMD was led by freshman outside hitter
Devon Laing (El Dorado Hills, Cali.) with an 18-kill, 10-dig, double-double.

• UMD sophomore setter
Courtney Carreiro (Dartmouth, Mass.) handed out a game high 29 assists and contributed a pair of digs.

• Conlon finished with 18 assists, two aces and a team-high seven digs. Anthony totaled three kills and six digs.

BY THE NUMBERS
• RIC hit .062 (22-17-81) and finished with 22 kills.

• UMD hit .293 percent (35-11-82) and finished with 35 kills.

• UMD registered seven more digs than RIC, 38-31.
