Jaelin Jang begins her first season as an assistant women's swimming coach at Rhode Island College.

“I’m really excited to have Jaelin joining the program,” Head Coach Cam Sylvia said. “Her experience and competitive drive are going to be a huge asset for the team. She brings a fresh perspective and is a great example of what you can accomplish with hard work and grit. Jaelin’s also making history as our first female coach. As a former LEC swimmer, she’s someone our student-athletes can relate to. Her background speaks for itself and I know she’s going to help take this program to the next level.”

“I'm excited to rejoin the Little Conference, this time as an Anchorwoman and assistant coach for the women's swimming team,” Jang said. “Being part of the LEC as a student-athlete was an incredible experience and I’m grateful for the opportunity to now help guide student-athletes on their own journeys. I look forward to supporting their growth, both in and out of the pool, and help them reach their full potential. I hope to make a lasting impact on their athletic careers and create meaningful experiences they can carry with them long after their time in the pool.”

Jang comes to RIC after serving as an assistant coach at Seekonk High School where she helped the boys’ and girls’ programs capture a pair of MIAA Div. II State Championships.

Jang was an accomplished swimmer during her career with the Owls, culminating with a Little East Swimmer of the Year award as a senior in 2023. She won eight individual LEC championships and was a member of nine first place relays squads. Jang also earned a pair of New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association (NEISDA) second place finishes as an individual. She helped lead Keene State to four consecutive Little East Championships. Jang was tabbed the LEC’s Rookie of the Year as a freshman in 2020.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in graphic design from Keene State in 2023.
