Christa Walsh begins her first year as an assistant athletic trainer at Rhode Island College.

“Both myself and Head Athletic Trainer Carlo Cantarella are looking forward to working with Christa,” Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Medicine Jerry Shellard said. “She comes from a great program at Springfield College and I am sure she will do a great job.”
 
“I am very excited to work with the sports medicine staff and the student-athletes here at RIC!" Walsh added.
 
The Brewster, Mass. native recently earned a bachelor’s degree in pre-professional athletic training, with a minor in nutritional science, and a master’s of athletic training from Springfield in 2026.
 
During her undergraduate days, Walsh earned experience by working with Springfield Central High School, the Springfield College football team, Pope Francis Preparatory School, Suffield Academy and the Colby College football team.
 
She spent the previous two summers working at the Cape Cod Baseball League, most recently with the Dennis-Yarmouth Red Sox.
