Providence, R.I.—Rhode Island College freshman outside hitter Amelia Murphy (North Attleboro, MA) was named the Little East Women’s Volleyball Rookie of the Week for her performance in a 2-1 week for the Anchorwomen. It is the second time this season Murphy has received this accolade. 

Murphy hit .263 (39-14-95) with 39 kills on the week. She posted 13 kills in a 3-1 win at Smith on Sept. 13. She also racked up 12 winners in a 3-0 loss at Salve Regina and 14 winners in a 3-1 win over Framingham State on Sept. 15.

She has played in 30 sets in nine matches and is hitting .180 (92-46-255) with 92 kills.

Head Coach Sherri Heard’s team is 5-4 on the season. In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will play at Anna Maria on Tuesday, Sept. 18 (7 p.m.).
