WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD PLACES 17TH AT N.E. OPEN CHAMPIONSHIPS

Hanover, Mass.--Junior Eleni Grammas (Cranston, RI) recorded a fifth place finish in the 100m and ran a leg of the seventh place 4x100m relay team to lead the Rhode Island College women's outdoor track & field team at the 2018 New England Open Championship, hosted by Dartmouth College on Friday and Saturday.

 

THE BASICS

• The Anchorwomen finished the meet in 17th place (39 teams) with 11.0 points. Northeastern won the event with 121.0 points.

 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Senior Destinee Barrette (Warwick, RI) finished sixth in the hammer (52.79m).

• Freshman Chelsea Yang (Warwick, RI) took seventh in the hammer (42.34m).

• The 4x100m relay team comprised of sophomore Jacklyn Xavier (Cumberland, RI), Eleni Grammas, junior Nicole Grammas (Cranston, RI) and sophomore Emma Landroche (Warwick, RI) notched a seventh place finish (47.83).

Eleni Grammas finished in fifth place in the 100m (12.32).

• Freshman Rachel Meus (Providence, RI) recorded a tie for 16th place in the high jump (1.60m).

 

WHAT'S NEXT

• In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the MIT Last Chance Meet on Thursday, May 17 (10 a.m.).
