Casey Burns Named Little East Women's Tennis Player of the Week

Providence, R.I.--Rhode Island College sophomore Casey Burns (Westbrook, CT) was named the Little East Women’s Tennis Player of the Week for her performance in a 3-0 week for the Anchorwomen.

Burns went 3-0 at both No. 1 singles and doubles as the Anchorwomen picked up three shutouts. RIC downed Salve Regina, 9-0, on Sept. 9, Suffolk, 9-0, on Sept. 11 and Worcester State, 7-0, on Sept. 14. She did not lose a game to any of her opponents, winning every match (6-0, 6-0) in a shutout.

For the season, she is 4.0 (1.000) at both No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles.

Head Coach Adam Spring’s team is currently 6-0 overall and 2-0 in the Little East. In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will travel to Franklin Pierce on Thursday, Sept. 19 (5:30 p.m.).
