Women's Tennis Takes Down Worcester State, 7-0

Providence, R.I.—Junior Hailey Raskob's (North Smithfield, RI) straight set win at No. 5 singles clinched a 7-0 rain-shortened match in Little East women's tennis action played at the RIC Tennis Center on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Sophomore Casey Burns (Westbrook, CT) and freshman Jenna Lisi (Cranston, RI) defeated the Worcester State tandem of junior Dominque Alves (Ludlow, MA) and senior Lauren Taylor (Attleboro, MA), 8-0, at No. 1 doubles.

• RIC juniors Laurel Ten Eyck (Warwick, RI) and Grace Zangari (Saunderstown, RI) gave the hosts a 2-0 advantage when they defeated WSU sophomore Charlotte Mullane (Sterling, MA) and junior Emma Collings (Marion, MA), 8-0, at No. 2 doubles.

• The Anchorwomen completed the doubles sweep when juniors Emily Orticerio (Smithfield, RI) and Raskob bested Lancer juniors Monika Mularski (Auburn, MA) and Bekah Riley (Elllington, CT), 8-4, at No. 3 doubles.

• Burns made short work of Alves (6-0, 6-0) at No. 1 singles and Raskob secured the win with a straight set (6-0, 6-1) victory over WSU sophomore Emily Costa (Dudley, MA) at No. 5 singles.

• Lisi bested Taylor (6-0, 6-2) at No. 2 singles and junior Victoria Vittori (New Bedford, MA) defeated Worcester State junior Victoria Konicki (Auburn, MA) (6-2, 7-5) at No. 6 singles.

• Zangari was leading (6-1) vs. Collings at No. 3 singles and Ten Eyck was on top (7-6 (7-3), 2-0) vs. Mullane at No. 4 singles when rain ended the match early.
