Providence, R.I.—The Rhode Island College wrestling team is currently in 16th place (17 teams) after day one of the 2019 NCAA Div. III Northeast Regional Championship, hosted by Johnson & Wales University at the Wildcat Center on Saturday.
The Anchormen completed the first day of competition with an 18.0 team score. Host Johnson & Wales is currently in first place with 91.5 points.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• RIC senior Michael Gallagher (Saunderstown, RI) is still alive in the wrestlebacks at 184 lbs., after posting a 2-1 mark on day one of competition.
• Junior Samuel Lindblom (Waterford, CT) is also still alive in the wrestlebacks at 149 lbs., with a 2-1 mark on the day.
• Junior Daniel Murray (Bay Shore, NY) posted a 1-2 record at 125 lbs., while senior Tim Caplan (Portland, CT) was 2-2 on the day at 165 lbs. for the Anchormen.
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College compete in day two of the NCAA Div. III Northeast Regional Championship on Sunday, February 24. The top three finishers at each of the 10 weight classes advance to the NCAA Div. III National Championship.
