Grace Janes begins her first season as an assistant coach with Rhode Island College's men's and women's indoor and outdoor track and field programs. She works primarily with the team's throwers.

“I'm excited to have the opportunity to join the RIC track & field family,” Janes said. “Having been a collegiate thrower and a high school track and field coach, I know what it takes to be both a competitive athlete and a diligent student. I look forward to developing and supporting the present and future student-athletes of Rhode Island College.”
 
She was previously the head track and field coach at Tiverton High School during the 2020-21 season where she developed R.I. State qualifiers in both the javelin and discus events. Janes spent two seasons as a volunteer assistant coach and one as an assistant coach with the Tigers prior to taking the head coach’s duties. She has also served as an assistant coach with the girls’ soccer program since 2019 where THS won the R.I. State Championship in 2019 and was a semifinalist in 2020.
 
In addition to her coaching duties, Janes is a health and physical education teacher at South Kingstown High School.
 
Janes was a thrower, specializing in the both the hammer and weight throw, at the University of Rhode Island. She was a team captain for two seasons and was a member of two New England Championship teams in 2013 and 14.
 
She earned a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from the University of Rhode Island in 2017.
 
Janes resides in Newport, R.I.
