Cam Sylvia begins his first season as an assistant women's swimming coach. He also serves as Rhode Island College's coordinator of aquatics.

Sylvia has been swimming since he was six years old, starting out at the New Bedford YMCA. He made significant contributions for the Whalers at New Bedford High School, where he was the top scorer for all five years, led the Whalers to win 4 Big Three Championships, and had numerous first-place conference finishes. For his efforts he earned both the Standard Times All-Star Award and the Super Team Award.

Cam continued his journey at Springfield College, where a career-ending injury shifted his focus to coaching. Despite the setback, he had a huge impact on the team's culture. Working alongside former Head Coach John Taffe and current Head Coach Howard Hinds, Cam brought an infectious energy and positivity to every practice, making the experience more enjoyable and helping to strengthen the team’s bond. His contributions played a key role in leading the Pride back to the Division III NCAA National Championships for the first time in years. Five swimmers qualified, and one earned All-American honors with a 7th-place finish in the 50 freestyle.

After his time at Springfield College, Cam took on the role of Head Coach at Western New England University for a season. He helped guide the team to six top-five finishes at the Little East Conference Championships, including two runner-up finishes. Every swimmer saw significant time drops and achieved season-best performances.

Now, as the first assistant coach at Rhode Island College, Cam is excited to share his love for swimming and help cultivate the next generation of talented athletes!
