Bill Volpe ’89, ’94 begins his fifth year as the head men's and women's golf coach at Rhode Island College.

Volpe and the Anchormen won the Emmanuel Classic during the 2024-25 season and had one student-athlete earn All-Little East accolades.

Two Anchormen earn All-Little East awards in ’23-24. RIC won its annual Spring Invitational and notched three second-place performances.

In ’22-23, Volpe's squad won one tournament and registered five top-three finishes. The Anchormen placed fourth at the 2022 Little East Championship. In 2021-22, Volpe led the Anchormen to three tournament wins and a fourth place finish at the Little East Championship.

Volpe retired from a 31-year career as a school counselor with the Central Falls (R.I.) School District. During that time span, he worked primarily with juniors and seniors and prepared them for moving on to higher education.
 
Volpe also served as an assistant varsity baseball coach with the Warriors for nine seasons before becoming the head coach in 2003 and guiding the program until 2019.
 
He is an avid golfer with over 35 years of playing experience. Volpe won the Rhode Island Junior Amateur Championship (then called the State Caddy Championship) in 1973. He won the President’s Cup at Triggs Memorial Golf Course in 2003. Volpe tied for first overall in the top division at the annual Triggs Club Championship.
 
He earned a bachelor of arts degree in social science from Rhode Island College in 1989. He also minored in history, economics and sociology. Volpe returned to RIC to earn his M.Ed. in education counseling in 1994.
 
He is also a 10-year veteran of U.S Navy, serving four years of active duty and another six in the reserves.
 
Volpe resides in North Providence with his wife, Renee. The couple have three children.
