Sarah Gunderson begins her second season as an assistant softball coach at Rhode Island College.
 
Gunderson started her collegiate career at the University of Rhode Island, spending time on the pitcher’s mound and in the outfield from 2016-2020. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, her senior year was cut short, but was granted a fifth year of eligibility. Gunderson took advantage of the opportunity to continue her softball and academic career by attending Providence College, where she graduated with her master’s in business administration.
 
During her career at URI, Gunderson was a four-year starter, Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week, honored on the A10 All-Rookie Team in 2017 and was a two-time A10 Pitcher of the Week in 2020. She hurled a career total of 338 innings and graduating with her bachelor's degree in marketing.
 
As a Friar, Gunderson pitched a total of 40 innings and was awarded Big East Weekly Honor Roll accolades. She recorded 45 strikeouts for the season and spent time in the outfield when off the mound.
