Rhode Island College

Rich Fonseca begins his second season as an assistant softball coach at Rhode Island College.

Fonseca came to RIC with 15 years of coaching experience, in addition to four years as a baseball student-athlete at Johnson & Wales.
 
He has spent five years as both a head and assistant coach for the Rhode Island Fire N Ice Softball organization. Fonseca was a volunteer assistant baseball coach at Johnson & Wales from 2010-17 and also was a head coach for Riverside American Legion Post 10.
 
During his baseball career at JWU, he served as a team captain, was a GNAC Academic All-Conference selection and a member of the league’s All-Sportsmanship Team.
 
Fonseca earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Johnson & Wales in 2009 and his master’s degree in organizational leadership from JWU in 2011.
 
In addition to his coaching duties, Fonseca is a lead vendor management office analyst with Amica Mutual Insurance.
