Providence, R.I.--Rhode Island College has named Kaitlyn Costa as an assistant softball coach. Costa will help Head Coach Brian Claypool will all facets of the program.
“I’m very excited to be starting my college coaching career at Rhode Island College,” Costa said. “I look forward to the start of the season and can’t wait to see what our student athletes will accomplish.”
“When I saw Katie coaching for her high school and travel ball teams, I immediately knew that she was somebody that I wanted to work with in the future,” Claypool said. “I was even more delighted when the timing lined up for her to join our staff this season. Katie is very natural and authentic as an instructor and her experiences as a former student-athlete are an asset to our current roster. Her passion for the game of softball is highly contagious and she makes our players excited for training, even when the weather outside isn't very conducive for spring sports during preseason.”
Costa spent the last two seasons as the Head Junior Varsity Coach and Assistant Varsity Coach at Cranston High School West. She also served as an assistant coach for the CLCF Bombers U-18 team for the last four years.
Costa is a 2014 graduate of Roger Williams University with a degree in criminal justice.
