Men’s Track & Field Opens Outdoor Season at USF Invitational

Tampa, Fla.—Senior Shamar Spruill (Providence, RI) had a runner-up finish in the hammer (51.09m) and was ninth in the discus (38.41m) as the Rhode Island College men’s track & field team opened the outdoor season at the 2019 University of South Florida Bulls Invitational on Saturday.

• The meet featured some of the top NCAA Division I, II and III competitors from throughout the country.

• Senior Adam Stomberg (West Greenwich, RI) placed seventh in the javelin (38.97m) and notched a ninth place finish in the hammer (32.29m).

• Sophomore Raffaelo Manzo (Slatersville, RI) registered a 24th place finish in the 1,500m (4:16.93) and was 39th in the 800m (2:10.08).

• Freshman Matthew Russom (Fort Kent, NY) was 45th (4:54.08) in the 1,500m.

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the Bryant Invitational on Saturday, March 30 (10 a.m.).
