MEN’S GOLF KICKS OFF SPRING CAMPAIGN WITH FIRST PLACE FINISH AT RIC SPRING INVITATIONAL

Warwick, R.I.--Senior Austin Cilley (Westerly, RI) shot a 75 and notched a tie for fourth place to lead the Rhode Island College men's golf team to a first place finish at the 2018 RIC Spring Invitational played at Valley Country Club on Saturday.

 

THE BASICS

• Rhode Island College shot a team score of 305 over the rain-shortened 18-hole event. The first day of competition (Friday, April 6) was cancelled due to inclement weather.

• Chris Bornhorst from Babson took home medalist honors with a 73. The Beavers finished two strokes behind the Anchormen for a second place effort.

• The par-72 course measures 6,458 yards and the tournament featured 15 teams with 77 golfers.

 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• RIC senior Josh Macera (Cranston, RI) tied for sixth overall with a 76.

• RIC junior Mike Caparco (Johnston, RI) and sophomore Nathan Patterson (Conway, MA) each carded 77's and finished tied for eighth place.

• Junior Ryan Badeau (Woonsocket, RI) finished in a tie for 26 place with an 80, while freshman Aaron Landau (Litchfield, CT) finished in 76th place with a 102 competing as an individual.

 

WHAT'S NEXT

• In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Friday and Saturday, April 13-14.
