Shion Darby Named Little East Rookie of the Week for Third Straight Week

Providence, R.I.—Rhode Island College freshman guard Shion Darby (Peekskill, NY) was named the Little East Men’s Basketball Rookie of the Week for his performance in a 2-0 week for the Anchormen. It is the third time this season that Darby has received the Rookie of the Week honor. 

Darby started and played in both games. He averaged 31.5 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 7.5 apg, 1.5 bpg and 2.0 spg in a pair of wins. Darby had 35 points, six boards, four assists, two blocks and a pair of steals in an 86-82 win at Bridgewater State on Nov. 26.

He followed that performance with 28 points, five rebounds, 11 assists and two steals in a 97-77 win vs. Regis on Dec. 1.

For the season, he has played in seven games, starting all of them. He is averaging 29.4 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 5.1 apg and 1.4 spg.

Head Coach Tom Glynn’s team is 6-1 on the season. In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will open Little East play at home vs. UMass Dartmouth on Wednesday, Dec. 4 (7:30 p.m.).
