Providence, R.I.—Rhode Island College seniors Allie DiBiase (North Kingstown, RI) and Miranda Murphy (Lansdale, PA) have qualified as all-around competitors for the 2019 National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) National Championships, which will be held on Saturday, March 23 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
This will be DiBiase's third trip to the national championship, while Murphy will be competing in her second national meet. The duo qualified as sophomores in 2016-17, while DiBiase competed during her freshman campaign (2015-16).
DiBiase earned All-East Region honors with a third place finish in the all-around at the NCGA East Regional Championship on March 9. For the season, she is averaging scores of 9.423 on vault, 8.893 on bars, 8.548 on beam and 9.210 on floor. DiBiase is averaging an all-around score of 36.073.
Murphy earned All-East Region honors with a fourth place finish in the all-around at the NCGA East Regional Championship on March 9. For the season, she is averaging scores of 9.085 on vault, 8.778 on bars, 8.908 on beam and 9.286 on floor. Murphy is averaging an all-around score of 36.055.
Head Coach Monica Mesalles Nassi's team wrapped up the regular season with an 0-4 record and a sixth place (six teams) finish at the NCGA East Regional Championship on March 9. The Anchorwomen posted the program's highest score for a meet with a 185.525 point total at the regionals. RIC also set program records for the top vault (47.350) and beam (46.850) team scores.
