HOW IT HAPPENED
• RIC started off on a huge run to earn the opening momentum as the Anchorwomen built an 18-3 lead within the blink of an eye and ended up taking frame one by 18, 25-7.
Â
• A service ace from senior setter
Grace Luchka (North Scituate, R.I.) gave RIC a 19-12 lead in the second set and it was sophomore outside hitter
Jocelyn Sigouin-Adorno (Fall River, Mass.) who got the set-winning kill, 25-14, to put RIC up, 2-0.
Â
• A narrow third stanza gave the hosts some trouble, but they were still able to pull through with a come-from-beyond win as they trailed, 19-13, but would go onto win, 27-25, thanks to big efforts from junior classmates
Olivia Rollinson (Coventry, R.I.) and
Caroline Morrell (Gorham, Maine).
Â
• Luchka finished with 15 assists, nine digs and a pair of aces.
Â
• All 17 Anchorwomen who were dressed were able to make an impact on the win.
