Rhode Island College Mourns the Passing of Athletic HOFer Richard Rouleau ’68

Providence, R.I.--Rhode Island College was saddened to learn of the recent passing of Athletic Hall of Famer Richard "Dick" Rouleau '68.

RIC Director of Athletics Don Tencher said, "The passing of Dick Rouleau marks a milestone loss for Rhode Island College Athletics. He was one of the greatest basketball players in Rhode Island College history as evidenced by his uniform number 14 being retired and hanging from the rafters in the Murray Center. He was extremely active as a while an undergraduate student on campus and had an incredible professional career as a coach, teacher and top administrator. He was a dedicated athletic alumnus who was very generous in his support of student-athletes and with encouraging words for me over my tenure. I was a very fortunate to know of this legend as a basketball player in the RIIL in which my high school played his team. He was part of a dynamic coaching group from that era such as Ray Pepin '63, Donald Hickey '62, Charlie Wilkes '64 and others who were all student-athletes from Rhode Island College. Losing Dick is a significant blow to Rhode Island College athletics as we are losing a legend. My deepest sympathies to his family and Godspeed Coach Rouleau.
