Providence, R.I.—Senior Elijah Gouin (Glocester, R.I.) won in straight sets (6-2, 6-1) at No. 4 singles as Rhode Island College defeated Suffolk, 6-1, at the RIC Tennis Center on Thursday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Anchormen swept the doubles matches as Gouin and freshman Ethan Clegg (Chepachet, R.I.) won at No. 2 doubles, 8-1, to help the hosts secure the doubles point heading into singles action.
 
• Clegg also played his role at No. 3 singles, as he swept both sets (6-3, 6-0) to notch his second straight match with a straight set victory.
 
• Gouin clinched the win in his singles match.
 
• Freshman Kyle Neuendorf (Attleboro, Mass.) won (6-3, 6-4) at No. 6 singles.
