RIC Bests Washington (Md.), 4-1

Winter Haven, Fla.—Senior pitcher Abby Kidd (Granby, Conn.) and sophomore pitcher Ashleigh von der Linden (Stratham, N.H.) combined to lead Rhode Island College past Washington (Md.), 4-1, in the club's second game of the day on Monday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Freshman designated player Jillian Guilfoyle (Derby, Conn.) put RIC on the board in the bottom of the second with a two-run double.
 
• Sophomore first baseman Melanie Earley (Lumberton, R.I.) and junior center fielder Sophia Crudale (Cranston, R.I.) each knocked in a run, on a double and single, respectively, in the third inning.
 
• Senior shortstop Amanda Conti (Lincoln, R.I.) went 2-for-3 with a run scored.
 
• Kidd started and hurled three scoreless innings without allowing a hit and striking out three. Von der Linden picked up the win (2-1), allowing just one run on five hits, in four innings of work.
 
WHAT'S NEXT
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will face North Central on Wednesday, March 12 (9 a.m.).
