Providence, R.I.—Sophomore guard
Meagan Schuermann (Cooperstown, N.Y.) scored a career-high 27 points to go along with nine rebounds and three steals as Rhode Island College lost, 74-66, vs. No. 21 UMass Dartmouth in Little East action played at The Murray Center on Wednesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Corsairs took advantage of turnovers and poor shooting by the Anchorwomen in the first quarter and led, 20-9, after the first 10 minutes.
• Senior forward
Maggie Schwab (Saunderstown, R.I.) grabbed an offensive rebound and scored to pull RIC within six, 30-24, with 2:37 left in the second stanza. UMD closed out the half on a 6-2 run to lead by 10, 36-26, at the break.
• The Corsairs led by double digits for the entire third quarter and held a 12-point, 56-44, advantage with 10 minutes left to play.
• Senior guard
Madison Medbury (Scituate, R.I.) scored eight fourth-quarter points to make a late run at 1,000 career points, finishing with 15 points and needing two more to reach the milestone.
• Medbury finished with 15 points, nine rebounds, four assists and three steals.
• Schwab came off the bench to contribute nine points and four rebounds in 18 minutes.
