Depleted Anchorwomen Squad Racks Up a Season-Best 86 Points in Win at Coast Guard

New London, Conn.—Junior guard Meagan Schuermann (Cooperstown, N.Y.) and sophomore guard Shalyn Smith (Middletown, Conn.) each recorded career-highs with 32 and 29 points, respectively, as a depleted Rhode Island College team posted a season-high 86 points in an 86-70 win at Coast Guard to close out the fall semester on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• RIC relied on just six players en route to its fourth straight win.
 
• Schuermann posted 32 points and eight rebounds and knocked down 4-of-7 from three-point range.
 
• Smith was also efficient, shooting 11-for-18 from the field, to rack up 29 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals.
 
• Sophomore guard Nichole Ljuljic (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) pitched in with a career-high 13 points.
 
• Junior guard Maggie McKitchen (Seekonk, Mass.) pulled down a career-best 11 rebounds.
 
WHAT'S NEXT
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will resume Little East play at Southern Maine on Tuesday, Jan. 6 (5:30 p.m.).
