Anchorwomen close out 2025 season with, 3-0, vs. VTSU Castleton on Senior Day

Providence, R.I.--Senior middle hitter Sydnee Pires (Rochester, Mass.) and classmate right side hitter Olivia Miranda (Tiverton, R.I.) closed out their respective careers as Rhode Island College defeated VTSU Castleton, 3-0 (25-15, 25-12, 25-14), in the 2025 season finale for both clubs at The Murray Center on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The duo were honored as part of RIC's Senior Day before the start of the match.
 
• Five kills from Pires in the first set gave the Anchorwomen the momentum to win the opening set in thunderous fashion, 25-15.
 
• RIC dominated the second period as back-to-back service aces from sophomore defensive specialist Caroline Morrell (Gorham, Maine) propelled the hosts to a 25-12 win.
 
• Winners from junior classmates Sarina Marines (Cranston, R.I.) and Andrayah Williams (North Providence, R.I.) within the last three points of the final stanza paved the way for the Anchorwomen to complete a three-set sweep.
 
• Pires finished with a game-high eight kills to go along with five digs.
 
• Williams and Marines combined for 15 kills with seven and eight, respectively.
 
• Junior libero Carolyn Bailey (Ipswich, Mass.) and classmate setter Yuleisy Alvelo (San Juan, Puerto Rico) each recorded 10 digs. Junior setter Grace Luchka (North Scituate, R.I.) led the team with 13 assists.
