New London, Conn.--Junior middle hitter Sydnee Pires (Rochester, Mass.) had 10 kills, hit .450 and recorded four blocks as Rhode Island College improved to 2-0 with a 3-0 shutout at Mitchell on Thursday evening.

• After taking the first set by seven, 25-18, the visitors notched back-to-back, 10-point, 25-15, decisions to secure the 3-0 win.
 
• Sophomore outside hitter Sarina Marines (Cranston, R.I.) contributed eight kills and 13 digs. Freshman outside hitter Olivia Rollinson (Coventry, R.I.) also had eight winners.
 
• Junior middle hitter Andrayah Williams (North Providence, R.I.) had another strong match with nine kills.
 
• Sophomore libero Carolyn Bailey (Ipswich, Mass.) racked up 21 digs, while classmate setter Yuleisy Alvelo (Springfield, Mass.) dished out 21 assists.
