Providence, R.I.—Rhode Island College has named Owen Kane as the assistant sports information director. Kane will work alongside Assistant Athletic Director for Media Relations and Promotions Scott Gibbons.
Kane will be responsible for sports broadcasting, journalism and information regarding all RIC sports and events.
"From coming to Anchormen and Anchorwomen games as a kid, and now working for RIC, is sort of surreal in a way. I saw some great student-athletes play years ago and hope to see many more come through Rhode Island College."
Kane is a 2024 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown where he obtained a bachelor's degree in communications with a focus in sports broadcasting.
He was the primary on-air talent throughout his undergrad years in which he called Division II sports located in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC). Kane was in charge of all broadcasts that took place at Pitt-Johnstown and helped other students learn the basics of sports broadcasting.
Kane is a former resident of Millville, Massachusetts but now resides in Bourne.
