Kidd and Simmons Power Softball Past Simmons, 4-0

Brighton, Mass.--Junior pitcher Abby Kidd (Granby, Conn.) fired a three-hit shutout, while sophomore second baseman Noelle Simmons (Goffstown, N.H.) went 1-for-3 with a run scored and a pair of RBI, as Rhode Island College took game one of a doubleheader at Simmons, 4-0, at Daly Field on Sunday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• RIC scored all four of its runs in the fourth inning as senior center fielder Avery Katz (Brookfield, Conn.) tripled in a run, Simmons brought in a pair with a triple of her own and senior first baseman Katelyn Ashe (Colchester, Conn.) registered a sacrifice fly.
 
• Kidd struck out nine to secure her third (3-0) win of the season.
 
• Freshman designated player Reilly Austin (Cumberland, R.I.) went 2-for-3.
