Andrew Fanning (Smithfield, R.I.) notched a straight set (6-4, 6-1) win at No. 6 singles to lead Rhode Island College past Suffolk, 7-2, in the club's first match of the spring at the RIC Tennis Center on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Anchormen dominated doubles action, which was highlighted by senior
Peter Pond's (Providence, R.I.) and junior
Zach Siemmao's (Wakefield, R.I.), 8-0, shutout in third pairs.
• Siemmao was nearly flawless in a (6-0, 6-1) shutout win at No. 5 singles and Fanning quickly clinched the match with his victory one spot lower in the lineup.

Elijah Gouin (Glocester, R.I.) registered a straight set (6-3, 6-0) win at third singles and paired with classmate
Noah Morin (Smithfield, R.I.) for an 8-1 victory at No. 2 doubles.
